BUFFONGE EXPLAINS JOURNEY TO UNITED

DJ Buffonge has described his journey to Manchester United after learning his trade with local London side Broadwater Farm before earning his stripes with Fulham at their hugely-respected Academy.
The Reserves midfielder, who scored his first goal at that level in September's clash with Derby County, grew up in the capital before making the move to Manchester in 2015. Buffonge, who turned 19 this month, can certainly be well pleased with his progress.
"I started off at a Sunday League team - Broadwater Farm in London," he told ManUtd.com. "It's grass-roots football and I started very young. I was only about four and wasn't technically allowed to play but they still let me join in!
"From there, I went to Arsenal and, from Arsenal, to Fulham and Fulham to here. Yeah, there have been a lot of moves!
"We won the Premier League tournament at Under-16 level with Fulham and it was a really good set of boys. A couple of them have broken through - the likes of Ryan Sessegnon was in my team. Both he and his brother Steven have played in the first team. Matt O'Riley is another who has already represented Fulham's senior side and Dennis Adeniran, who has moved to Everton. There are a few others too.
"It was a big move for me and my family to come north. My family actually moved up with me to help support me. So those are the people who give me advice and are very supportive. It's extremely important because it keeps me level headed, grounded and focused.

Buffonge received a call-up for Antigua & Barbuda back in February to compete at Under-20 level but did not travel for the tournament in Costa Rica.
"I'm not really too sure what happened but they wanted me to come over there with the Under-20s," he said. "I was thinking about maybe getting some international experience but we never followed through with it. But I would have been representing the country of my grandparents and they would have been happy with that."
Buffonge is likely to be involved in Wednesday night's Premier League International Cup tie with Athletic Club, which is being shown live on MUTV (19:00 GMT kick-off).
