Australia National University Acceptance Rate
Universities in Australia do not normally publish ‘acceptance rates’. All they do is the minimum rank required to gain entry into a given faculty.
Their acceptance rate depends upon the faculty in which you intend to enroll. Entry is based on an ‘ATAR’ score – Australian Tertiary Admission Rank.
This seeks to standardize examination and assessment results of final year high school students. We are not certain how it is calculated but it is based on percentiles.
For example, if you scored 95 then you would have scored more highly than 95% of the cohort of year 12 high school graduates.
The largest faculty at ANU is the Faculty of Arts. The minimum ATAR for entry is usually 80. The other smaller faculties typically have higher ATARS – Mathematical Science for example is at least 95.
There are other pathways into universities, including ANU, other than ATAR score, (although comparatively few places compared with the conventional method).
These could include mature-age entry, various diploma and associate degree courses held already by the applicant, disadvantaged students who do not meet the normal entry requirements and relevant work experience.
