100 Birmingham Masters Scholarship Scheme for UK/EU Students in UK, 2018





The University of Birmingham is now accepting applications for Birmingham Masters Scholarship Scheme for 2018 entry. The university is offering 100 new £2,000 scholarships for masters students in selected subject areas.

Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Scholarship Award: For 2018 entry the University has 100 new £2,000 scholarships available for Masters students in selected subject areas, supporting the brightest and best postgraduates to excel at Birmingham and stand out in an increasingly competitive, global job market.
  • Nationality: UK or EU
  • Number of Scholarships: Up to 100 scholarships are available.
  • Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility for the Scholarship: 

Eligible Countries: UK or EU students are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
Entrance Requirements: The Birmingham Master Scholarships will be available to students who are:
  • Domiciled in the UK or EUStudents recorded at Home or EU for fee-status purposes are eligible, provided that they meet the other eligibility criteria.
  • Studying full time or part time for a maximum of two yearsA standard taught Masters course lasts one year if taken on a full-time basis, or two years if taken part-time. Full-time courses that last two years are eligible. Any course that lasts longer than two years is not eligible for the funding.
  • Self-funded
    You must be self-funding or apply for a postgraduate government loan to pay your fees and living expenses
  • Not already registered on a postgraduate programmeApplicants must not currently be enrolled on a postgraduate degree course.
  • Undertaking a Masters course in an eligible subject 
Award nomination will be based on the following criteria:
  • Academic achievements and previous study
  • Professional qualifications and achievements
  • Strength of the personal statement

Application Procedure: 

How to Apply: To be considered for an award, applicants must, by the 31 January deadline, have done both of the following:
  • Made an application to their intended Master’s programme. Please apply through the relevant programme page on the Course finder section of the University of Birmingham website.
    This must include all of the relevant supporting documentation: references, transcripts if available, and English language certification if applicable.
  • Completed the Birmingham Masters Scholarships application form.
Applicants should enter the application ID number that they were given the application to the Master’s programme.
